Mr. & Mrs. Ben Susman vs. The Universe

I married my favorite guy on December 30th, 2013

My father walked me down the aisle - it was a proud moment for both

Surrounded by 50 family members
we were married in Skaneateles, NY at The Sherwood Inn

It was the perfect place for our cozy evening celebration

Our wedding was warm, and intimate

and FULL of love

A WHOLE LOTTA LOVE

Our wonderful photographer, Erik Korver, captured all that love

Yes we know it was December

There was energy, there was color and there was sparkle

And now for some small, but very important details...

Ben wore cufflinks that belonged to his grandfather - his father put them on
Our welcome baskets were stuffed with See's Candies from California & all the fixin's for a Hot Toddy on a cold night: Maker's Mark Whisky, Vermont Honey from Gintoff's Farm, Lemon Tea, Cinnamon Stick and a Glass Mug

My toes were wiggling with nerves and excitement
RAW BAR
Cupcakes, topped with chocolate covered strawberries, from the Patisserie
Fujifilm instax mini 8 provided endless entertainment for guests and great take-home treats for everyone
Bubbly 24-7
Our table numbers were significant but simple - we were both born in '79

Invitation and theme design by yours truly

Thank you Sara Scollan for my flawless makeup
and side-swept hair
AND for getting me into my BCBG Runway dress

Many thanks to Joe Whiting for the music and the good vibes

And a very special thank you to Johanna Smith-Ellis for officiating our beautiful ceremony

Our wedding was truly the perfect union of our two families...
just what we wanted

Inhale.
Exhale... and GO!
Immediately following our fairytale wedding
we flew back to San Diego and Ben got a job offer in LA
He accepted

We quickly planned our honeymoon and Ben quit his job

We spent 3 incredible weeks traveling around Sri Lanka
more on that coming soon

We came home and 5 days later
Ben started his new job up in Los Angeles
We were still living in San Diego

For a month my new husband spent the weekdays & nights in LA
I would go back and forth
We would apartment hunt

Apartment hunting in LA looks something like this:

On the weekends we'd stay in San Diego packing our abode
and soaking up all the last minute love we could get
We were very sad to leave our friends

After an entire month of apartment hunting, we found one
We moved in
...and 24 hours later we moved out

and then we moved AGAIN
but this time into our lovely new home

FINALLY!

As soon as we unpacked our very last box
my Honda Fit lease expired...
Time to find a new car

Oh really? Something else? No problem. I got this.

Together we enjoyed 3 weeks of countless test-drives
and exhausting amounts of research all while Yelp shopping
for an honest auto-mechanic
Go team!

We opted for a used car
and finally pulled the trigger late last week
And here we are... present day

Let's be honest, it wasn't the smoothest transition into married life

But we came out on top
We still laugh, we still love and we still hold hands

Now it's time to explore our new city and start this next chapter
Now it's time to breathe
(No jinx. PLEASE NO JINX.)
