Status Update 06/09/11

I’m settled, employed, mobile and really friggin’ happy.  It took a long time to actually get here, San Diego, but I’m all yours.

Job Hunting
After a couple of lowball offers I’m thrilled to say I've finally landed at a fantastic boutique agency in La Jolla called Interluxe - branding, marketing and producing luxury automotive events.

It's all very, very cool.

Car Shopping
To avoid any monthly payment I decided to go the “used” route and pay cash up front for a vehicle that would hopefully last me a year.  It seemed like the smartest idea.  Test-driving the first few cars was almost fun.  Three + weeks later I knew it was time to pull the trigger.  It really hit me when I found myself in the parking lot of Mossy Ford hiding between a Toyota and a Kia crying my eyes out.  The very next day I bought a 96 VW Cabrio convertible from a private seller.  Pretty sure I’m gonna trade that sucker in for a new car any day now… (sigh.)

Not to be mistaken for the luxury car pictured above.

Settling
I found a local stylist to keep my locks looking good.  I love my cinnamon coffee from the 7-Eleven three blocks away.  Navigating the 15, 162, 805 and 94 are getting easier by the day.  I found a decent dry cleaner, I look forward to weekly trips to Trader Joe's and I’m happy to report my vocal chords are improving thanks to the excessive singing during my 30 minute commute.

Socializing
I’ve never spent so little time alone and I admit it’s really nice to be constantly surrounded by people you roll well with.  I’m currently living with 3 roomies and 2 pups.  I love them all, there’s a ton of laughter and the nightly food & drink are unparalleled.  A sampling of weekend events might include BBQ’s, disc golf & beach dates.  I've said it before and I'll say it again... my new friends are amazing and my old friends keep getting cooler. Thanks to you my transition has been seamless.

...and that about sums up a little taste of what's been happening.  Now that we're all caught up I truly hope to get back on the blog wagon.  See ya soon.
